William Hall, a group of brethren, after returning from a lodge meeting at another lodge in 1961, discussed the feasibility of forming a new lodge in the Mountain Park area. October 17, 1961 – Tuesday At the Pine Needle Clubhouse a list of 69 Master Masons in the Mountain Park area was compiled to see how many of them would be interested in forming a new Lodge. Approximately 27 brethren on that list contributed one hundred dollars each to start a new Lodge. All 27 plus 14 others become charter members of the Masonic Lodge known as Mountain Park Lodge No. 729. November 30, 1961 At the second meeting at the Pine Needle Clubhouse on Rockbridge Road, Stone Mountain, Gwinnett County, Georgia 15 Brother Master Masons met to propose a new Masonic Lodge. The Brethren present were: G. Robert Parker H. Higgins Roy O. Smith Seaborn Cochran Herbert A. Thigpen William K. Hall F. Ray Street L.J. Canup Clarence Patt M.D. Shaw Wade Gunter E.C.
