He mentioned that he had information about the Lodge at his home which he wished to pass on to one of the members. I advised him that I was the Historian for the Lodge. He forwarded the following report to me. I have retyped it for clarity, but not verbatim, as it was a copy of poor quality. The History Committee submitted it in about 1954. This information would probably have been lost except for Mr. Goodrich’s recognition of its historical value to our Lodge. Thank you, Mr. Goodrich. Larry Ward PM, Lodge Historian About the year of 1908, W. H. Congdon, our first Master of the Lodge, came to our locality and rented a farm on the Gresham Butte. He had formerly lived near Spokane, Washington, and had taken his Masonic degrees there. He was a very enthusiastic Mason and immediately began to look around for Masonic brothers with the idea of organizing a Lodge in Gresham. Fairview Lodge at Troutdale had jurisdiction over most of Eastern Multnomah County at that time, and an appeal was made to them
