Ancient in spirit. A deliberate experiment in what a Masonic lodge can be, built from the ground up by men who wanted something more from their fraternal experience. Our Story Born in 2015. Built with Purpose. Enlightenment Lodge No. 228 received its charter from the Grand Lodge of Oregon, A.F. & A.M. in 2015, making it the youngest lodge in the state. But in this fraternity, youth is no disqualification. It is an invitation to do things well from the start. We were founded by men who loved the Craft deeply enough to build something new—a lodge that embodied what Freemasonry was always meant to be: intimate, intentional, and alive with real meaning. We meet in the historic Kenton Masonic Temple in Portland’s Kenton neighborhood, a stately setting that reminds every man who walks through the door that he is part of something larger than himself.
